Classic Video Game Scenes Recreated using Lego Bricks

Nes 8-bit Duck Hunt in Lego

Nes 8-bit Duck Hunt in Lego

A Flickr user named "skinny coder" has a photo gallery full of classic video game scenes rendered in Lego brick. Nes games such as Metal Gear, Duck Hunt, Contra and Bionic Commando all skillfully put together brick by brick. I think Nintendo should team up with Lego at some point and release a Mario Bros. Lego set. More Photos after the jump.

Crystalis NES Rpg – Classic CIB Spotlight

Crystalis NES CIB

Crystalis NES CIB

Crystalis NES game

Crystalis was SNK's top-down action rpg entry for 1990. It sported advanced graphics and a nicely orchestrated soundtrack for the time period. Crystalis was generally well received by critics and gamers as a solid NES game. It has a Legend of Zelda type feel to the game play as you advance screen to screen and engage in repetitive swordplay with various badies. Crystalis was later re-released on the Gameboy Color handheld in 2000. You can pick up a loose Crystalis NES cart for around 5 bucks on ebay and the gameboy version is going for $10ish. A notable milestone in the NES action rpg category and worth a spot in your NES collection. (more...)

Nintendo Customer Service Training Video from 1991

A training video from 1991 aimed at retail workers to show different things Nintendo had in place to help deal with customer returns and nintendo hardware repair. Only thing I can think of when watching this video is how many mint sealed nes games and accessories line the shelves. In the opening shot you can even see the top shelf holds nothing but u-force controllers.

Alien Brigade (Atari 7800) Print Ad Scan

Alien Brigade Ad Scan

Alien Brigade Ad Scan

This was the "retro scan of the week" over on vintagecomputing.com. The ad is from the Atari 7800 game Alien Brigade that came out in 1990 at the end of the 7800's run. The alien infested solider in the ad looks very much like a baboon wearing a helmet. From the bottom of the ad: "An Alien is a wonderful thing to Waste".
