FC Mobile NES Handheld
If you're like me you have some nes games laying around, so the idea of being able to load them into a handheld is definitely appealing. The FC Mobile comes in a few different color combinations. A classic themed Red/White combo and a Silver/Black option. Its an import so the best place to find it is on ebay and a new FC Mobile will set you back $40 -$60 bucks. More after the jump.

Its only a matter of time.
Mattel's favorite fashion doll Barbie turned fifty yesterday. As she moves into middle age she leaves in her wake a continuing string of video games targeted at girl gamers; attracted to the titles by the well known Barbie brand. Starting with the game Barbie on the C64 in 1984 Mattel has continued to release Barbie video games including two games currently for the Wii. Lets take a look at a few and she how that worked out for her.

Barbie for the NES -1991
Barbie was one of the few girl orientated titles for the NES. Released in 1991, the story involves Barbie falling asleep hence the health bar being ZZZ's. You throw commands in the form of folded messages as far as I can gather. You chuck these notes haphazardly at animals to make them do your bidding. For example you can command a small cat to attack a chute where beach balls are pouring out. The cat though will need multiple commands to accomplish its difficult task. The messages you throw can also be used as a impromptu weapon. Although I imagine the Mattel would frown on Barbie wielding any sort of "weapon".
Barbie Super Model
Everyone's favorite doll makes her way to the Super Nintendo with BARBIE SUPER MODEL. It's Barbie's dream to become a world famous super model, and she needs your help to reach that goal. Travel to some of the most exciting cities in the United States as she climbs the ladder towards stardom: see the stars in Hollywood, frolic on the beach in Hawaii, brave the cold in Vail, and watch Barbie's wish become a reality in New York. In each locale you'll play a variety of mini-games how to dress, the proper way to apply makeup, and how to move on the catwalk. As Barbie continues on the path to learning the finer points of being a super model, can she count on you to help make her dream come true?
The SNES Barbie game Barbie Super Model is another dream based game. Safe for Barbie if its just a dream right? Obviously they never considered a Friday the 13th type of scenario. Barbie gets to cruise around Hollywood in her pink corvette and preform simplistic movements on a runway. No skill needed, perhaps some eyesight and muscle movement on your part will get you to the end.
The barbie game franchise, especially in the 90's is a great example of companies venturing into video games to expand their brands without actually developing compelling gameplay; and from the looks of things they'll be doing it for a while longer.

20 Years of Nintendo Power
A new "Collector's Special" is out at newsstands entitled. 20 Years of Nintendo Power: A history of Nintendo through the pages of the official magazine. People are already throwing around rare and limited edition with this 68 page glossy special. A bit short for the money but it isn't full of ads and has some fresh writing in it, not rewarmed Nintendo Power copy. If you can find it in stores its retailing for just under 10 bucks. I looked on ebay and one was up there at 30 bucks plus shipping with some time left. Considering the lousy economic picture lately maybe this collectors special is worth investing in.

Limited Edition NES Controller Jacket
This limited edition premium Nintendo varsity jacket features the Nintendo Controller appliqued on the back and a small controller appliqued on the front left chest. The jacket has a thermal insulated lining and buttons up in the front.
I've been keeping my eye on this jacket for a while and it looks like the number of jackets left for sale is pretty low. Adult XL is already out of stock but if you can squeeze into a large you can still grab one for $200 bucks. They made a limited run of 1,000 and I would imagine healthy sales may move them towards other themed jackets. SNES controller jacket anyone?
