ExplodingRabbit over on the Newgrounds.com flash portal has released a flash based reworking of the original super mario bros. Super Mario Crossover lets you play through the nintendo classic with five new playable 8-bit game characters. Each come with their own unique movement and special attacks.

Mr. Gimmick is a Famicom game by Sunsoft; released only in Japan and Scandinavia. Recently 1up blog retronauts featured a four part utube video on the rare game. An interesting side scroller you might want to look around for on the internet even if it's just to play it on an emulator. Although you might miss out on the music that a special sound chip on the original cartridge was able to deliver.

Coming in at number five is Gotcha! The Sport! which is based on paintball and features . Capture the Flag of the other side to advance in levels. The game also needs the use of a standard controller so it's possible to involve a second player in the Gotcha! action. Three themes of level are repeated with an increase of speed.

If your looking for a light gun challenge To The Earth will fit the bill nicely. You have to avoid hitting friendly ships while you blast away enemies, asteroids and other dangers. Each missed target will damage your shields and makes the occasional shield power-up that more important. Many people consider this to be the most challenging zapper game released.

1) Chiller
1990 American Game Cartridges, Inc.

When Chiller the arcade game was orginally released it ended up being banned in the UK because of "gratuitous violence". You could shoot off limbs of people chained up and blow off chunks of flesh. Some of this is taken out of the NES version (The flesh chunks) but retains a creepy feeling. This Zapper Game touts 2 player Zapper goodness, although you have to take turns. Sadly there isn't any simultaneous multi-player zapper games due to the way the NES tracks the light gun. Not as common as many zapper games this unlicensed Chiller port is one to keep an eye out for.

Nes Campus Challenge Cart

JJgames on ebay auctioned off the one of a kind 1991 Nintendo Campus Challenge NES cart at the start of this month. After 48 bids the auction ended at a whopping $20,100. Quite a interesting story reading through the Wiki info. If only we could all be so lucky and find something like this at a garage sale.

The official event gave player 6 minutes and 21 seconds to play in the contest, which is divided up into three minigames. The first minigame of the competition is to collect 25 coins in Super Mario Brothers 3. The next minigame is a version of Pin*Bot where players must get 100,000 points. The final minigame is Dr. Mario and this lasts until time expires. Once time does expire, a player's score is totaled using the following formula:
Super Mario Bros. score times 10
+ PinBot score
+ Dr. Mario score times 100

There is only one known copy of the 1991 Campus Challenge cartridge in existence. The game was found by a video game collector, Rob Walters, at a garage sale in New York [1] in 2006. The game sold for $14,000 in July 2009[2] After 3 months the game was resold on ebay for $20,100.00.[3]
