If you're looking for an Atari 7800 controller the best one to start with would be the standard Pro Line Joystick CX24 (pictured at left) This controller shipped with 7800 systems in North America. The Pro Line is also backwards compatible for the most part with the 2600 in case you also have one of those. Not many joystick versions were made for the 7800 but you can find several different types including the 7800 Joypad that looks somewhat similar to a NES controller. |

The Standard 7800 Controller, you might see this called a Multi System Deluxe Joystick, or more commonly a Atari Pro-Line Joystick. Bundled with the 7800 consoles standard in the United States. Two side fire buttons you would use your thumb and index finger on; it's a bit akward to hold while in the mist of trying to lay waste to your enemies. |

Atari Joypad Controller - The joypad controller came standard on the 7800 in most of Europe (PAL). The D-pad has a small thumb sized joystick that screws into its center. The look of the controller is similar to Nintendos NES controller pad. The fire buttons are not not marked with any letters though. |

Atari XG-1 Light Gun - The XG-1 light gun was originally bundled with the Atari XE Game System. Atari had released the XG1 to compete with nintendo's version of a light gun, the Zapper. Although not bundled with the 7800 originally it is compatible, it also works on the older Atari 2600 console. Games that use the lightgun are: Alien Brigade, Barnyard Blaster, Crossbow, Meltdown and Sentinel. |
