The Standard 5200 Controller, The basic 5200 controllers are not self-centering. So when you let go of the joystick it doesn't automatically go back to the dead center. The buttons tend to go first on these, you can sometimes swap the less used side buttons for the broken ones to get them working. There are also replacement switches for you to fix broken controllers if you're so inclined. |

Atari Wico Controllers - You can find Wico 5200 joysticks on Ebay that make good replacements. Depending on the model they have a lock on the bottom that will let the joystick self center or not.
